This might sound a little strange, but we want you to take a good look at your palms for a moment.
Why, you ask? Well, you might have noticed pictures of people’s hands appearing on your Facebook feed lately. It’s all part of a bizarre trend where people are trying to notice an “M” shape on their palms, which supposedly began after palm-reading expert Jon Saint-Germain wrote in a new book that it is a telltale beneficial trait.
Skeptical, we looked for a second opinion. And the folks at the Psychic Library agreed, an ‘M’ on the palm is a good sign.
“The M in palmistry is a rare but recognized marking,” Psychic Library Co-Founder Donnie Tash said. “This is believed to be good fortune bestowed on the individual. Also, it is an indication of a person with good intuition. People who have this marking are also known to be trustworthy and generally make good companions and business associates.”
So how can you tell if you’re one of the lucky few?
The “M” shape is formed by the heart line, head line and life line as they cross over in the centre of the palm. Here’s a chart, for reference:
You’ll notice in this image, the lines do not cross over to form an “M”. To see what it actually looks like, check this out.
Now, there is one more thing: The “M” has to appear on the hand you do not write with in order to qualify, so to speak. But again, we’re talking about palm reading here, so we’d advise you not to take this too seriously.
In any case, that’s what all those weird hand pictures have been about.
