You’d be forgiven for forgetting that the wildly popular Buffy The Vampire Slayer TV series, starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, Alyson Hannigan and TK, was actually based on a 1992 movie. It’s no wonder the movie, starring Kristy Swanson, Donald Sutherland, and the late, great Luke Perry, has been nearly pushed out of our collective consciousness, seeing as how it was a critical flop. But somebody saw some major TV potential in that movie, and it turns out, that person was none other than Dolly Parton. You read that right. If you’re a die-hard Buffy fan, you might be scratching your head, as the "Jolene’" singer was never once listed in the credits. However, a production company Dolly founded with friend and business partner Sandy Gallin, is quite prominently listed as producer for each episode. Sandollar Entertainment (which appears to be a mashup of both Parton and Gallin’s first names) produced the 1992 movie, the entire TV series, and a slew of other hits from the '80s and '90s, including the classic Steve Martin comedy Father Of The Bride, and, naturally, Dolly’s Netflix series, Heartstrings. We were today years old when we learned this.[video_embed id='1918022']RELATED: Dolly Parton hopes to pose for ‘Playboy' for her 75th birthday[/video_embed]The Independent has reported that while Dolly’s name is omitted in the credits, both Gallin and Sandollar executive Gail Berman receive credits on both Buffy and the spin-off "Angel. Some are even suggesting that the character Buffy’s birthday, January 19th, is a nod to the "Islands In The Stream" crooner as that is also Dolly’s special day.Fans, naturally, are shook. “Parton me?!?!” exclaimed one fan on Twitter, while another gushed, “We don’t deserve her. None of us have done enough to be worthy of all this good emanating from one person.”  “Just make her a saint now,” tweeted one fan and given her immense talent, and now under-the-radar support of a beloved show, it's easy to see why.To be safe, when there is anything good in this world, we'll assume that it has at least something to do with Dolly Parton.[video_embed id='1946157']BEFORE YOU GO: Avril Lavigne is releasing 'We Are Warriors' to 'show gratitude' for frontline workers[/video_embed]
