Donald Trump says a lot of crazy things. But he’s also someone you can’t avoid, even if you try. He has a presence, for better or worse. Another thing that made a statement was his first home, which he bought with his former-wife Ivana for $4 million in 1982.

But then they divorced, and Ivana sold the property in 1998 for $15 million (ka-ching). The new owners decided it was a little heavy-handed aesthetically, and quickly elected to tone things down. Which, we mean, fair enough. But once you see this property in Greenwich, Connecticut now, you’ll be left wondering how gaudy it must have looked before. Because there are still bizarre statues spread throughout, and there is a lot of carpeting. Like, a lot.

They added an extension to the property and some tennis courts, and now that once-$4 million mansion is on the market for $54 million. And that, friends, is what we call a real estate bubble.

Check out the 5.8-acre peninsula and all its 19,773-square-foot Georgian Colonial-style glory. You’ll see the main house, a guest house, eight bedrooms, thirteen baths, a three-story rotunda foyer with double grand staircase, formal rooms overlooking views of the pool and more in the gallery below:
