Collaborations are fairly common in fashion, what with H&M and Target tapping superstar designers to create capsule collections. But Donatella Versace is the new face of Givenchy, a label that is not her own.
Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci broke the news on Instagram by debuting a sneak peek at the upcoming campaign: “So proud and honoured to introduce my new ultimate icon: Donatella Versace,” he wrote in a caption.
Just to reiterate, Donatella is the Vice President and designer of Versace, and she owns a 20 per cent stake in the business. And yet, she’s representing her competition for some reason? Perhaps this is an instance of keeping your friends close and your enemies even closer.
