So, you already know that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is starring in the new Baywatch movie and that Zac Efron, Alexandra Diddario, Priyanka Chopra and model Kelly Rohrbach are joining him in patrolling the beach. But what about one of the original cast members? And we mean, OG. The pre-C.J. Parker and Stephanie Holden days (no word on Alexandra Paul but Pam Anderson may make an appearance).
Because before them and David Charvet and Yasmine Bleeth and David Chokachi, there were the original originals, Parker Stevenson, Billy Warlock, Erika Eleniak and Shaun Weatherly. And throughout the show’s entire run, there was David Hasselhoff, of course, who was the name and face of the show. But would any of the originals be signing up for the remake?
Hell, yeah. And Johnson was more than happy to share the news. In an Instagram post, Johnson announced the latest addition — and it’s a biggie. The Hoff will be putting on those red swim trunks once again.
“Pleasure to officially welcome the original #BAYWATCH gangsta himself David Hasselhoff to our movie!”
"I WAS BORN READY!" Pleasure to officially welcome the original #BAYWATCH gangsta himself David Hasselhoff to our movie! #BAYWATCH is the most successful TV show of all time and from the day we announced we were turning it into a movie, "The Hoff" has been our greatest supporter. Especially once he knew our RATED R movie was going to be a combination of AVENGERS meets ANCHORMAN….🌊🖕🏾Hoff's a cool dude who's down to have fun and here's the best part.. He's been training his ass off and gotten in the best shape he's been in in years! (cue slo-mo running and glistening chest hair.. wait, why the f*ck am I even thinking about Hoff's chest hair!?) World get ready.. #RockAndHoff #ThereAintNoBay #WithoutTheHoff 💯👊🏾
The Rock shared a video of himself Facetiming with Hasselhoff and it was glorious. He added that “Hoff’s a cool dude who’s down to have fun and here’s the best part…He’s been training his ass off and gotten in the best shape he’s been in in years!”
Hasselhoff appeared in the video, showing just how Hoffy he was, saying, “Come on, man. Rocking the Hoff. I was born ready.” Of course he was.
Baywatch doesn’t hit theatres until 2017 and we already knew it was going to be hot but with the addition of Hasselhoff, it’s going to be that much hotter. Because like The Rock says, “There is no Bay without the Hoff.” “I was born ready!” We can’t wait.
