With less than a month to go before Harry Potter and the Cursed Child hits bookstores, we are hitting levels of Harry Potter fever not seen since we first heard of the young wizard meant for big things. So naturally we’re latching on to this latest bit of news from the Potterverse. Because it’s kind of a big deal, especially if you love all things Harry Potter and The Flash.

Tom Felton, the actor best known for playing Draco Malfoy, has signed on for The Flash. But not as a one-off or guest run. Nope, Felton joins the cast as a series regular where he’ll play Julian Dorn, “a fellow CSI at the Central City Police Department who suspects there’s more to Barry Allen than just his good guy reputation,” according to TVLine.

Hmm, does that make him the new big bad or will he play against type? Felton usually portrays the villain because he’s so damn good at it. So it makes perfect sense that he’s not just going to be a nosy, investigative type who joins Team Flash after discovering Barry’s alter ego. There are already enough people on the show who know Barry is The Flash and who use that knowledge for good. We don’t see that happening with Julian Dorn, a character not in the comics but, rather, an all new creation, just for the show.

But is is he really an unknown?

Just speculating here, but, with The Flash taking on DC Comics’ game-changing “Flashpoint” storyline in Season 3, producers could’ve done some minor tweaks to make Felton’s character August Heart, a.k.a. Godspeed.

In the comics, it’s Barry who trains August before the latter turns on his mentor and becomes a killer. Yeah, if that doesn’t scream Felton, we don’t know what does.
