Too good? Pfft. More like too bad. In the suckiest news ever, Drake had some terribly sad information for his fans in Toronto, Philadelphia and Newark, N.J. and the rest of us who were hoping to catch some more Drake <3 Rihanna PDA. The rapper, who’s in the middle of his Summer Sixteen tour, has been forced to postpone dates in the cities after his doctor told him he needed to rest after suffering an ankle injury.
“I am crushed to even be typing this announcement because I feel like I am letting my fans in these cities down,” Drake wrote on OVO’s blog. “I hate to be told I can’t do something, but under doctor’s orders to allow me time to recuperate, I am being forced to postpone the intense three shows in a row in cities which have only ever shown me unconditional support.”
Drake did promise to return to the tour with “new music and a stronger ankle.” With more than 50 shows completed, alongside rapper Future, Drake said he will resume with the second of two scheduled dates at Newark’s MetLife Stadium. As for T.O. and Philly, that still needs to be determined.
Perhaps Rihanna can nurse him back to health so he can make up the shows and be better than ever. And maybe he’ll be in his hometown recovering. Because is it really just a coincidence that one of his concerts would have conflicted with Game 3 of the Jays’ playoff game against the Rangers?
While we’re sure some fans would be OK if he just sat on a stool and did his thing, or even a little Hotline Bling-style Grandpa dance, others would rather see him dancing and jumping and bounding around the stage, so here’s hoping he gets better soon.
