When it comes to fashion, Canadians always seem to get the short end of the stick, right? For some reason, retailers from around the world seem almost afraid to open up shop in the Great White North. It took ages for popular retailers like H&M, Topshop and Zara to debut in Canada and Canuck fashionistas have noticed. They’ve been collectively complaining about getting snubbed for eons and finally someone took heed. That someone is Drake.
Yes, Drizzy himself is opening up his very first bricks and mortar store in…Canada. Hooray! You see, the Toronto-lover/rapper is the founder of record label October’s Very Own Sound (OVO Sound). And this record label, which Drake founded with his pals Noah “40” Shebib and Oliver El-Khatib, also sells a lot of merchandise online. Unfortunately, that merchandise was only sold online — until now.
New before we all get too excited, let’s keep in mind that nothing has officially been announced yet. But the one hint we do have comes from Drake himself…so it does seems quite legit.
While Drizzy didn’t specifically say the store would be in Canada, it’s hard to imagine that it wouldn’t be. First, Drake and all of his friends love Toronto. Heck, they’re always up here whether it’s for OVO Fest or a Raptors game. Second, their merchandise is almost always emblazoned with the number six — to symbolize the six in 416 (i.e. Toronto’s area code). And finally, Drake hashtagged #6Side in his Instagram hint. What more do we want?
Stay tuned to find out when the store will open its doors to Drake fans. Would you buy anything from Drake’s OVO store? Let us know in the comments below.
