This guy is going to wake up with a lot more than just a bad hangover.
Recently, a man in Abbotsford, British Columbia, decided to drink and get behind the wheel; an act that is unfortunately all too common in Canada, especially during the summer months. But unlike most drunk drivers, this one eventually had second thoughts and decided to pull over. Officers say the man then switched off his car, got out and hopped into a cab, where he told the driver, “Get me outta here, buddy, cops are everywhere tonight,” (skip to the 1:30 mark in the video above).
There was only one problem: That “taxi” turned out to be an idling police car. Which means the man just told a cop to get him out of the area because “cops are everywhere tonight.”
How drunk was this guy?
Naturally, officers didn’t give him any sympathy for his belated decision to do the right thing, and they drove him directly to jail.
“He effectively arrested himself for impaired driving,” Constable Ian Macdonald says in the video above.
While it’s nice to have a little fun with situations like this, just remember that drunk driving is no joke. In BC alone, during the summer months, one person is killed every three days in impaired driving incidents. So make sure you have a plan to get back home before you go out!
