Dogs are supposed to be a man’s best friend.
But apparently, this guy somehow missed the memo. Wesley Mark Terrell of South Carolina ran into some trouble with police after they noticed he had left his dog in a car on a sweltering summer day. The vehicle’s internal temperature was measured at 51 degrees Celsius by the time the authorities arrived.
But just when police were ready to cuff Terrell and call it a day, he came up with quite the defence. He said the dog drove him to the store to buy some corn.
Sure he did, man. Sure he did.
Sheriffs also noted that Turrell appeared to be extremely intoxicated.
The man was arrested and charged with Animal Cruelty and DUI. Animal control later took custody of the dog, who was reportedly in stable condition.
As for Turrell, he’ll have a new chauffeur now: The police.
