Fellow sweet toothers, rejoice! Lily’s — an extremely tasty chocolate brand that has 25 per cent fewer calories than traditional chocolate bars — is here to provide you with a smarter option to satisfy all your choco-needs. Created by chocoholics Cynthia Tice and Chuck Genuard, Lily’s is a healthier alternative to conventional chocolate.
Lily’s was named after Chuck’s niece Lily, an inspiring young childhood brain cancer survivor. Since the age of 7, Lily has been raising money for other children battling the disease, and Cynthia and Chuck decided to honour Lily’s bravery and commitment by also contributing a percentage of their profits towards kids with cancer, as well as their families.
Now that you can feel good about where your money is going, let’s talk about taste. We all know that ‘healthy’ and ‘low-fat’ doesn’t exactly equal delicious. Weird textures and a bad aspartame aftertaste seem to be what ‘health’ food gains in place of lost calories. But since Lily’s is sweetened with stevia — a botanical sweetener that comes from the plant Stevia rebaudiana, used to sweeten food and beverages for 200 years (btw, stevia is also used to sweeten Halo Top ice cream) — a Lily’s chocolate bar tastes pretty much on par with any premium chocolate on the market. With flavours like Salted Almond and Milk, Blood Orange, Double Chocolate Crunch and more, there’s bound to be one that speaks, no, sings to you.
