The latest Game of Thrones (Sundays at 9 p.m. on HBO Canada) episodes have the world whispering of a potential on-screen coupling, Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen. But it’s a years-old photo that’s providing the juiciest visual into the gossip-fueled would-be-could-be romance of ice and fire.

In a photoshoot for Rolling Stone back in 2012, photographer Peggy Sirota captured this moment between Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke while they were frollicking around “just being affectionate…in a fashion way,” as Emilia puts it.

Wow! Right?! Let’s call this what it is: blazing hot!

“This moment was unforgettable,” writes Sirota in the caption of the photo she published to Instagram last year. “It was a small crew on that day, just a few of us out in the field…I asked them to kiss, I suppose love was in the air, & I was just lucky enough to be there. 💋💨”

Now, thanks to social media, we were all lucky enough to be there. The photo has been going viral since (spoilers ahead!) Daenerys and Jon shared a few, ahem, moments in the latest, penultimate episode of the penultimate season. And no wonder, it’s the pic we all need! Some have gone as far as weaving the real-life photoshoot into the GoT world with some inspiring fan art.

Emilia has posted a few playful shots of Kit on set as of late as well. Exhibit A: the actor pretending to be a dragon while wearing his Jon Snow garb:

And a pretty adorable selfie of the pair:

The world desperately wants these two to be a couple, on-screen and off. And judging by the “chemistry” in the latest snap to go viral, it looks like like Kit and Emilia are kind of into it, too. Just don’t tell Ygritte.

The season finale of Game of Thrones airs August 27 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO Canada.
