Mushrooms are, without a doubt, one of the best and most delicious sources of plant-based protein out there. It’s a quiet food, often overlooked, but it definitely can’t be duplicated. Mushrooms are the only vegetarian food that can make vitamin D, and 100g of raw mushroom contains only 22 calories! They are a great source of fibre including beta glucans, which are responsible for the immune modulated effects and anti-microbial activities that mushrooms are purported to have.
