We’re only a few weeks away from Ed Sheeran’s No.6 Collaborations album, which features some of the biggest names in music, including Bruno Mars, Camila Cabello, Cardi B, Eminem and more, but thankfully Sheeran isn’t making fans wait, instead dropping a handful of tracks ahead of the July 12 release. Sheeran’s latest single is his feel-good love song “Beautiful People,” which sees the British singer teaming up with the Grammy-nominated Khalid.
Sheeran and Khalid shared the lyric video for their new song earlier this week, dropping the official music video at midnight. “Beautiful People” shows what would happen if two average people were placed in the middle of a music video featuring models and celebrities, with the couple looking out of place in a private jet, at a pool party, in a fashion show, and while driving in a limo. Sheeran and Khalid make a few blink-and-you’ll-miss-them appearances, leaving the heavy lifting to the unsuspecting couple.
Singing “We don’t fit in well/We are just ourselves,” the new video shines a light on the importance of staying true to yourself and finding a partner that won’t try to change you. The soft and melodic pop track shows off the soothing vocals of both Sheeran and Khalid, with the two men no strangers to writing hit radio tracks. Prior to the song and video’s release, Sheeran shared a video of the pair in the studio, with the English singer basking in the warmth that is Khalid’s voice. It’s just so pretty.

“Beautiful People” follows “I Don’t Care,” Sheeran’s first single from No.6 Collaborations, which he released with longtime friend Justin Bieber. Similar in tone to “Beautiful People” and touching on the importance of being with someone who makes you happy, the men released a fun and carefree video that relied heavily on green screens and a sense of humor.
Sheeran also dropped the track “Cross Me” with Chance The Rapper and PnB Rock earlier this week, including a trippy, dance-centric CGI music video. Singing “If you cross her / Then you cross me / And nobody’s coming close, yeah / And I think that you should know that,” it feels safe to say that Sheeran’s 2018 wedding to longtime girlfriend Cherry Seaborn has inspired much of his new album. The man is in love and we’re getting a new album as a result. Now that’s a great wedding present.
Sheeran has a lot to celebrate this week in addition to his music. The singer is also appearing in the new Richard Curtis film “Yesterday,” which opens on June 28. Sheeran plays a fictionalized version of himself, working with a struggling musician (Himesh Patel) who finds stardom overnight when he wakes up one day and finds that he’s the only person in the world who remembers The Beatles, quickly passing off the Fab Four’s music as his own.
