It’s official. After racing through Canada, Vietnam and Cuba, girlfriends Steph LeClair and Kristen McKenzie became the first all-female team to win The Amazing Race Canada. Not only that, they were the first women to ever win the show, following in the footsteps of the Tims, Mickey and Pete and Gino and Jesse. Woot, woot, said every female TARC fan out there.
We had a good feeling about them from the start, and they proved week after week that their relationship was strong. So strong in fact, we feel like we’ve got a lot to live up to…
That time Kristen couldn’t help but gush about Steph, who hung upside down from a tram thousands of feet in the air like a total badass.
When golf so wasn’t their forte but they toughed it out together and eventually managed to smile about it. And, hey, check out their cute outfits.
When the frustrating flower-smelling leg could’ve gotten them down, but didn’t. Because they’re awesome like that.
When we saw the look of sheer glee on their faces when they won their first leg, after placing second in the three previous ones. So adorable.
When Steph was clearly so proud of Kristen while she reassembled a motorized scooter in Vietnam. Kind of amazing.
When Steph couldn’t get enough of Kristen’s look as Sir John A. MacDonald. Which we get, because look how cute she is!
That time Kristen stepped it up after a machete sliced through Steph’s fingers during the sugarcane challenge, finishing the challenge while Steph was tended to.
When Steph’s injured hand proved to be a hindrance during volleyball in Cuba, and Kristen showed her frustration. No matter how angry one was, forgiveness mended bad tempers every time.
That time Steph fought through the pain so Kristen didn’t have to keep picking up the extra slack. Learning from past problems. That’s how you do it.
It’s no wonder they came out on top. Like they say, love wins.
