The Emmys may be the time for celebrating great television, but since we’re human, we’re also on the hunt for the next big thing. Sometimes it’s an underrated show that’s slipped under our radar until now and other times it’s a pairing of two celebs that we never would have considered but will now stay up all night thinking about. Thanks a lot, Television Academy.
And fantastic pairings happened not once, not twice, but a startling five times Sunday night (guess that’s how they’re making up for the no host thing). They were strong right out the gate with the never-before-seen-nor-even-contemplated pairing of Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Bill Hader. It just makes sense, right? Then there was Amy Poehler and Catherine O’Hara and seriously, what are they trying to do to us? We’re not sure, but we need several scripts on our desks by Monday, people!
Here are our casting pitches for the next season of must-watch TV.
Emmys presenter pairings who need their own TV shows ASAP
Phoebe Waller-Bridge &Bill HaderOkay, not only do they look straight up adorable together, these two each took home multiple Emmys Sunday night. Talented, tall and gorgeous? Give us a break. We need a fast-paced rom-com stat!

Maya Rudolph & Ike BarinholtzMaya and Ike are obviously both in that sketch comedy orbit, but we’ve never really considered the two of them as a pair. It’s like when two of your friends who you didn’t really know had a relationship outside the friend group get together—you wouldn’t have suggested it, but it works. A buddy cop movie, maybe?

RuPaul & ZendayaWell this one should have been obvious—they both go by one name! Maybe Zendaya could just become a permanent judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race. We’re sure Michelle Visage won’t mind.

Amy Poehler & Catherine O’HaraWhy didn’t we think of this before? With Amy’s deadpan and Catherine’s ability to go full over-the-top Moira Rose, we can imagine these two bantering for hours. Maybe we could just add Amy to the final season of Schitt’s Creek?

Adam DeVine & Meryl StreepYou’re lying if you say you wouldn’t watch a TV series where Adam DeVine and this odd Meryl Streep impersonator go on crime-fighting adventures. You would watch it and you would like it.
