Imagine. You set off to Russia to attend the England vs. Panama game. You’re pumped. It’s going to be an amazing time, maybe even once in a lifetime. You arrive in Russia, head to your hotel, chill for a bit before getting all hyped for the game. Jersey on? Check. Facepaint good to go? Check. Ticket? Wait …um, where the f*ck is it?

This is pretty much what happened to Douglas Moreton, who, according to the Daily Mail, travelled over 2,000 miles from Bristol to Nizhny Novgorod to NOT watch a soccer game. Pfft. And you thought you had a bad day.

Naturally, Douglas was desperate and he happened to bump into ITV News editor Dan Howells who was staying at the same hotel and explained his crappy predicament. Like any kind-hearted soul would, Howells felt for Moreton and tried to help the lad find a last-minute ticket.

Amazing, right? And only made more amazing when Dan actually scored him a ticket. But this is Douglas we’re talking about, and apparently he might be the unluckiest guy on the planet.

Aaaaaaand, it got worse for poor Dougie.

Nutshell? Too little, WAY too late.

Ugh, after your passport, isn’t the ticket the next thing you ensure you have?! Aw, mate. Now, Douglas is back at home … with his ticket.

Of course, because this is Douglas’ luck, it was one of the most exciting games of the World Cup thus far (if you’re an England fan, that is). Unlike many of the other 1-0 snoozers, England walloped Panama 6-1. But, hey, at least England won? They’re through to the semis. Teeniest of consolations, but something. Hmm, maybe Team England will hear about this and hook him up for their next match? Come on, Dan, work your magic once again.

Don’t miss a match! Check out our how to watch guide and get in on the beautiful game.
