Last night on South Park we got to see the boys as we’d never (really) seen them before: as a bunch of real life kids. All was revealed at the very tail end of the episode:

We have to say that the likeness to all of the characters is pretty much exactly how we ourselves imagined it. We’d probably buy Stan and Kyle’s hats if they sold ’em. Although, you gotta admit…poor Cartman kid.

It’s not the first time that animated characters have become human. Four years ago The Simpsons (“Simpsons did it!”) authorized this promo for the UK’s Sky One network that showed what the family would look like in the real world. It’s pretty uncanny. Take a peek:

We think that — although “Simpsons did it” first and all — that South Park did a better job here. It’s shorter, sweeter, and a leaves a lot of questions for anyone who’s watched the show for a long time. Are they part of The Matrix/Oculus Rift? What is South Park? Is it just a game?

One can only hope that we can somehow utilize the same technology to make the entire Kardashian family cartoons. Oh wait. Already there. Gotcha.
