If the first half of Season 3 of How To Get Away With Murder was about finding out who died in the fire, the second half is going to be focused on uncovering who killed Wes. RIP Waitlist.
This week’s episode may have been titled “Not Everything’s About Annalise,” but one thing that’s undeniable is that everything leads back to Annalise. It may not all be about her, but it all definitely involves her.
The Keating Four plus Oliver and Bon Bon are in full panic mode after hacking into the DA’s computer system and discovering that even if Annalise is cleared of Wes’ murder, there’s still about five corpses in line waiting to take her down. To reiterate, everything goes back to Annalise, so if she goes down, there’s a good chance her best students and employees are going with her.
Frank spent the entire episode confessing to Wes’ murder, something we kinda think he didn’t do, but maybe could have? Sure, we see in the flashback that Wes got out of Frank’s car before the fire, but that doesn’t mean the two didn’t meet up again at Annalise’s house.
The DA finally agree to charge Frank, but instead of cleanly falling on his sword for Annalise, the two are both being charged in Wes’ murder.
Since Orange Is The New Black has the market cornered on women’s prison drams, we’re pretty sure Annalise will be released within the next few episodes, that is if she doesn’t end up shiv-ing her roommate and adding an extra life sentence. Still, one very important question that needs to be answered and one that could get both Annalise and Frank out of jail is of course, who killed Wes?
There are a number of suspects. Annalise and Frank aren’t off the hook and neither is Bonnie. She killed Rebecca to protect Annalise and knowing that Wes was talking to the police could have been enough of a motive for Bonnie to again kill in the name of Keating.
Then there’s Michaela, who this week proved that she’s got the intimidation game down when it comes to people messing with her future, which Wes was doing by speaking with the police. Of course, Connor also made his feelings towards Wes known, even after Wes’ death.
But what about Meggie?
As Laurel said, she was acting sketchy. Meggie has always seemed like a nice person, way too nice to be involved with the Keating 5, but her questions about Nate could be read two ways. One, she’s genuinely concerned about the death of a boy she used to love. Two, she killed him, accidentally or on purpose, for breaking her heart. Either way, love sucks.
