Her love don’t cost a thing, but that doesn’t make it any less sparkly.

It’s official—after two years of dating Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez are ready to take their piping-hot relationship to the next level, because as of this weekend he put a ring on it.

And yes, we really need to talk about this ring.

The ring

“Don’t be fooled by the rocks that she got” jokes aside, the piece is absolutely stunning. Lopez flaunted her new hardware in a romantic sunset engagement announcement on her Instagram over the weekend and he posted the same photo to his feeds, sending fans everywhere into a frenzy.

The piece reportedly cost a cool $1.4 million, features a classic emerald-cut diamond, is colourless with the highest clarity possible, and is around 15 carats.

We always knew a professional baseball salary was nothing to thumb our noses at, but holy moly. We bow down.

Ring aside, it feels like this engagement was a long time coming.

The pair have officially been together since February 2017, and made their red-carpet debut together at the Met Gala a couple of months later in May. By December we were all aboard the JRod train following a gorgeous shot of the couple on the cover of Vanity Fair, and we’ve had wedding bells in our heads ever since.

And one of the couple's most vocal supporters has been Ellen DeGeneres, who grilled JLo on how the two met when she was a guest on her show and even asked if they were going to start a family. JLo acknowledged her pal's ribbing by tagging her in the proposal photo and DeGeneres responded in the best way possible.

This is, simply, one for the books. #CommentsByCelebs

The proposal

Naturally the proposal was just as romantic as the courtship. The pair were in Bakers Bay, Bahamas on vacation, and A-rod took advantage of the tropical setting to pop the question on Saturday as the sun was setting.

Eagle-eyed fans may have seen the proposal coming following his’s Instagram Story that same day, after he posted an excerpt from the poem “Soulmate:” "A soulmate isn't someone who completes you. No, a soulmate is someone who inspires you to complete yourself. A soulmate is someone who loves you with so much conviction, and so much heart, that it is nearly impossible to doubt just how capable you are of becoming exactly who you have always wanted to be."

Or as they would say, just two lovers from the Bronx who found each other.

Fourth time's the charm

This will be Lopez’s fourth time down the aisle; she was previously married to Ojani Noa (1997-1998), Cris Judd (2001-2003) and Marc Anthony (2004-2014) and was of course famously engaged to Ben Affleck though they never made it down the aisle. Rodriguez has been married once, to Cynthia Curtis from 2002-2008. In the past, he had been romantically linked to celebrities like Demi Moore, Cameron Diaz and Kate Hudson. Naturally, many are sending their well-wishes to the happily engaged couple, but there are already naysayers in the mix. That includes former Oakland A’s baseballer Jose Canseco, who is calling out Rodriguez for reportedly cheating on Lopez with Canseco’s ex-wife, Jessica Canseco.

It's a bit of a bitter wrench in the otherwise happy news, but so far the couple hasn’t responded to the allegations so we’re going to go ahead and celebrate anyhow. After all, how can you not root for this?

That is one hot couple. Which can only mean the wedding will be a total smoke show.
