We were really hoping Spencer would somehow make his way into the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s son’s name but alas, they went with something different. Not traditional at all and nowhere near any of the top picks those pesky bookmakers had odds on. Let’s just say no one’s winning. Except of course for Harry and Meghan and Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.

The announcement of the name came fairly quick, similar to that of his Cambridge cousins. All that was needed was a royal introduction between The Queen and Prince Philip and their eighth great-grandchild. Their smiles and looks of love are unmistakable.

Presumably, Meghan’s mom, Doria, who was also in the photograph, has known the name all along. At least we didn’t have to wait a week, the way Charles and Diana tortured fans with William way back when. Or even worse, like Elizabeth and Philip, who waited an entire month before revealing Charles’ name.

With Arthur, Albert and James as the big favourites, how and where in the name of Riverdale did Archie come from?

According to The Sun, the name may have already been inspired by the future King of England. Earlier this year, George met a dog walker and when she asked his name, he said he was called Archie, which caught the woman off-guard since she obviously knew who he was.

Weird, but sure, we’ll take it until Meghan and Harry offer some insight into their decision. As for Harrison, perhaps it’s a play on Harry, which is both modern and so very Meghan.

Archie became seventh in the line of succession to the throne but there will be no Prince or HRH title preceding his name and instead he will simply be Master Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. According to royal reporter, Omid Scobie, it’s all part of giving their son as normal a life as possible.

But if Meghan and Harry were hoping to snag Archie his own Instagram account, it’s already been taken! The internet does not waste any time.
