Even if you’re not a ‘makeup person,’ you’ve probably thrown on a little concealer under your eyes to mask those dark circles you get from lack of sleep, stress and just life. No one wants people constantly asking them if they’re tired or sick (thanks, mom) but it’s hard finding a concealer that actually masks those purple/blue nightmares under your eyes. The Buzzfeed ladies took it upon themselves to find which of four popular concealers is the best (so you don’t have to waste your time or money doing it for yourself).
It looks like while the most expensive product is the highest quality–of course it is–that doesn’t mean it has to be your first choice. While the girls said they could feel the difference between the $37 NARS and the other three brands, three out of the four chose the $8 NYX as their favourite (which is the cheapest).
Here’s the breakdown. Each lady gave ratings based on coverage and blendability out of five for a total score of up to 10 for each product. We added those together so coverage and blendability are out of 20 and the total score is out of 40.
This one was somehow both gooey and too thin to really conceal anything. None of the ladies liked this one and it’s total score was 19 out of 40. On the plus side, it comes in the most shades, so if it happens to work for you coverage-wise, you’ll have 17 chances to find your perfect skin tone.
NYX concealer wand – $8
This one turned out to be the best bang for your buck. The ladies were most taken with the texture and said it was the perfect mix of smooth and light while still covering the under-eye circles a natural amount (you know, so you don’t look like a doll). This one gets an overall score of 33 out of 40.
This is the only product on the list that’s a stick concealer rather than a liquid so blending is difficult. It’s like colouring your skin with a crayon. If that’s what works for you, have at it, but the ladies gave this one an overall score of 16 out of 40. Yikes.
This one scores the highest with an overall of 37.5 out of 40. That being said, it’s also the most expensive on this list. It comes in 16 colours though so you’ll be certain to find your shade and it’s soft, creamy feel is distinctly different from the other brands. The big note on this one is that it goes on really thick so it’s probably best as part of a full face of foundation rather than just as an under-eye cream.
Seems we found the cure for looking tired all the time. Now we just need the cure for being tired all the time. Where’s that cream?
