Russia and Eastern Europe have pretty much had the monopoly on world-class vodka, but Canada has officially closed the gap. In 2014, best pals Denzil Wadds and Tim Keenleyside teamed up to create small-batch craft vodka that evokes the crisp air, green pines and rocky shores of their happy place, a.k.a Georgian Bay, Ont.

“We believe we’ve captured the spirit of Georgian Bay by using only the best ingredients nature has to offer,” said Keenleyside, whose offerings are a combo of single malt and corn-based vodka. They also contain ingredients like hand-harvested wild juniper from the Thirty Thousand Islands, and fresh water from Springwater Township (yep, that’s a real place in Ontario).

This is one smooth beverage, but you don’t have to take our word for it. Georgian Bay Vodka was named best in class at the 2016 Annual San Francisco World Spirits Competition where it beat out 1,849 other entries (and no doubt a few Eastern European contenders) for the prestigious Double Gold Medal. Imagine sitting back and sipping on some of the world’s best Caesars–yes we’re allowed to brag now–as the sun beats down on you…

Sigh, summer is coming (eventually), and we really want to have this vodka on hand.

Who It’s For:

Patriotic vodka drinkers who like their moonshine as pure as a cool Canadian lake.

How Much?

$40 for a 750 ml bottle

Where To Find It:

It’s only available at Ontario LCBO stores, for now.
