There are a number of items lurking in your medicine cabinet and on your bathroom counter that could be housing a lot of bacteria. We’re talking about makeup, creams and anything you flip open, dip into and smear on all 2000 parts. And that’s enough to leave you with an icky feeling.

One of the reasons this bacteria could exist is because your products are old. Did you know that Canadian cosmetic companies aren’t required to offer an expiry date on their products’ packaging? So it’s not likely you’d even know how old your products are. Since you’re not aware of when to throw ’em out, you don’t. And hey, that seems completely understandable to us. But did you know that using expired products could result in skin redness, irritation and possible infection? Won’t somebody please think of the children?!

Old and expired beauty products aren’t the only thing you need to be aware of. The video, above, lays out all of the ways in which your makeup counter could be the most disgusting thing in your house (and by extension, all over your face, too).
