Around the world today, fans are celebrating May 4th as the unofficial Star Wars day. A play on the line ‘May The Force Be With You,’ today’s international celebration is bittersweet, with fans simultaneously mourning the recent loss of Carrie Fisher and super excited for the next Star Wars episode.
One person who has no problem boasting about their love for the force is Tonight Show (Monday to Fiday at 11:35 p.m. ET on CTV Two) host Jimmy Fallon. The comedian has often proclaimed his love for all thing Star Wars, interviewing a number of the cast members over the years and even enlisting the biggest names from Star Wars: The Force Awakens to take part in an incredible musical mash-up that had Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver and more singing the famous Star Wars theme song.
Thanks to what we assume is a group of patient and dedicated editors on The Tonight Show staff, a brand new mash-up of Smash Mouth’s 1999 hit “All Star” is being presented for our listening pleasure, performed once again by the Star Wars cast. You may be asking, the cast from which film? How about all of them. It’s a very wordy song.
The hilarious and impressive new mash-up was likely inspired by the song’s title containing the word ‘Star,’ which means that future May 4th’s could feature a number of pop songs performed by the Star Wars cast. We suggest Madonna’s “Lucky Star,” or The Buggles “Video Killed The Radio Star,” or if we want to keep it light, Earth, Wind & Fire’s “Shining Star.”
We had almost forgotten just how catchy this song is, so be warned. You will likely have “All Star” in your head all day. May the fourth be with you.
