Just call him the cow whisperer.

Farmer Derek Klingenberg doubles as a musician, and when he’s not ranching out on the farm you can find him somewhere practicing his musical craft. But who would have thought those two skills would pair together so well?

You see, Klingenberg has found a way to call the herd back home using only an instrument. Specifically, the trombone. His latest performance of Lorde’s “Royals” really seemed to resonate with them. As he plays his instrument, a steady stream of cows start to appear on the horizon until they surround him completely – like snakes to a snake charmer.

“I’ve been going out there the past week to “cube” the cattle. We feed them a treat so it is easier to gather them when we round them up later this week. … Yesterday morning was so beautiful. I left very early in the morning. There is something wonderful about playing a trombone in the middle of a prairie to 380 heifers,” Klingenberg wrote on Facebook.
