We all knew that the royals would be attending Christmas service in Sandringham as they were all in town to celebrate the holidays with the Queen and Prince Philip. We also knew that it would be the first time we’d see Meghan Markle mixing it up with them all for the first time. And because we all know so much, we knew that Meghan and Prince Harry were bunking with Prince William, Duchess Kate and the kids at Anmer Hall. Yet somehow, we weren’t prepared for seeing them all together.
As the family made their way to St Mary Magdalene Church, with Elizabeth and Philip leading the group, it’s hard not to focus on the quartet close behind.

Love how the women were positioned on the inside, so we could see them side by side and get shots like this.
The men wore long coats and ties and kept it in the blue family. The women also wore coats, but theirs were a little more festive. Kate’s plaid tartan from MiuMiu had big gold buttons, and a velvet collar, while Meghan’s camel number was from Canadian designer Sentaler. Both ladies also had giant hats, but that was expected.

It was the first official appearance for the two couples and they made it count. Natually, the women’s coats sold out soon after they were identified. The hats? Probably not so much.
They fab foursome eventually headed back to Anmer Hall to have lunch, then watch the Queen’s annual Christmas address.
As for Boxing Day, it usually involves a day of hunting but it’s been reported that Harry skipped out of it this year (and all future hunts, most likely) as Markle is an animal lover and is known for advocating for animal rights. Sigh, just when we didn’t think it was possible, we might love her even more. It’s going to be a good year.
