We’ve all had that moment, when the lighting is perfect, our makeup is on point, we have a cute outfit on. That moment where we go to take a selfie, and the message appears. You know it well – it’s haunted your nightmares ever since you bought a phone. It reads: NOT ENOUGH STORAGE.
A single tear runs down your cheek. Why did it have to be me? What did I do to deserve this?
Many of us have thousands of photos taking up way too much space on our phones, and most of them we never even end up posting or sharing with anyone. Well, tech expert Avery Swartz wants to change that with some new, cute ways to get photos off your smartphone and into something fun and shareable. Maybe then you can finally delete some and clear out some storage (to make room for new selfies, of course!).

Postagram postcards and the app
With so much being sent digitally these days, receiving a photo postcard is quite a novelty! No need to buy a postcard and worry about stamps though – with the Postagram app, you can send any photo on your phone as a real postcard in the mail. Pick a postcard theme, a photo, and write a message inside the app. That’s all you have to do – Postagram makes the postcard and sends it to your recipient. It costs $2 to send a Postagram in the us and $3 internationally.
The HP sprocket is a fun, portable photo printer. Connect it to your phone via Bluetooth to quickly print any of the photos you have in your image library. Use the special sticky-back photo paper to turn any of your photo prints into stickers – a fun idea for decorating walls, kids’ lockers, or for sharing with family and friends.
Social Print Studio’s tiny books are adorable. At just 1.7 inches tall, they’re photos from your camera roll or Instagram account, printed with surprisingly good photo quality. They come in sets of 3 and are magnetic, so you can keep them together (or pop ‘em on your fridge). The mini books are 3.5 inches, so they’re twice as big as the tiny books, but they’re still small and portable. The spiral bound mini books come in sets of 2, and are perfect “brag books” for showing off photos of whatever you’re most proud of.
There are more photo gift options out there beyond photo prints and books. Vistaprint has a number of fun options for printing photos, including photo magnets, beverage coasters and photo puzzles. Their website is easy to use – upload a photo, add your customization options, and you’re good to go.
Mixtiles are 20cm x 20cm photo frames printed with your photos in them (use the app to select photos from your phone). They have sticky pads on the back of them that stick the tiles on a wall, without damaging your walls at all. The best part: Mixtiles are moveable! Take a tile off the wall, move it around to a different spot. You can do it a few dozen times before the stickiness wears off.
