Dance your cares away, worry’s for another day… That snazzy Fraggle Rock theme song is officially stuck in our heads now that the show is once again making headlines, and our nostalgia-loving selves are totally into it.
HBO announced on Wednesday that the popular children’s series is getting a second life in the near future, now that the show is being digitally remastered into HD. As such, all 96 episodes of the series that first aired 33 years ago are coming back, and we can hardly contain our excitement.
For those who need a quick refresher, the Jim Henson Co. series was a massive worldwide hit, and aired in 98 countries. It revolved around muppets known as Fraggles, Doozers and Gorgs and their various adventures.
This just seems like the latest adventure in kids programming from HBO — they also recently took over the Sesame Street broadcasts from PBS in the U.S., which also features larger than life puppets.
We have total confidence in this remastering, knowing that Brian Henson, a.k.a. Jim Henson’s son, is overseeing it all.
“[We have] created a contemporary look for the series with meticulous attention paid to every detail — sharpening the images, cleaning up the contrast, increasing the vibrancy of the colors and re-formatting for wide-screen — all under the careful supervision of Brian Henson,” the company wrote in a press release.
The episodes are expected to return to HBO by end of the year, which means they’re coming back at the perfect time to get comfy in some oversized PJs, break out some tasty Doozer sticks and binge watch several episodes at a time.
As they’d say down at the rock, “let the music play.”
