French fries are no joke.
Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Once you get a good batch, there’s nothing like it. It’s almost indescribable, that overwhelming wave of emotion that comes with the perfect bite. Yes, shut up, we love fries, okay? And don’t lie — you do, too.
But because you like to fit into your pants, instead of ordering them regularly, it’s easier to steal them off someone else’s plate. We all do it. In fact, a recent survey by New York Fries found that Canadians would rather steal some off other people’s plates than buy their own.
VOTE NOW: Do you share your fries?
Yep, 84 per cent of Canadians are down with sharing other people’s fries; 72 per cent of those surveyed admitted they encourage their eating partner to “order a large fry so they can eat theirs.”
Since Canadians are notorious for our politeness, it shouldn’t be surprising that our fry etiquette is second to none. Most of us (76 per cent) will either ask or wait to be offered a crispy fried stick of goodness before mooching one off another person’s plate.
But you won’t have to worry about sharing (or stealing) french fries on Monday, July 13, because it’s National French Fry Day. And New York Fries is ready to celebrate, giving away a free, regular order of fries to anyone who signs up for the Fry Society loyalty program.
To get your hands greasy, all you have to do is sign up on their website by July 12 at 11:59 p.m. ET, and your free order will be loaded on to your member card. Then you’ll have until July 31, 2015 to get your free fries. After 10 purchases, you get to select any one item off the menu for free, AND there’s the added bonus of getting some free fries on your birthday.
Winner, winner, french fry dinner.
