Kids, it’s time to let it go already.
Parents are reaching their breaking point over their children’s obsession with hit animated film Frozen‘s soundtrack. Specifically, the track “Let it go” is beginning to make their blood boil, to the point that even the movie’s director has stepped in to offer sympathy.
“A year ago, I’d meet people who, when they found out who I was, they’d say, ‘Oh, we love the songs! We sing them all the time,'” Jennifer Lee told The Hollywood Reporter. “Now they’re like, ‘Yep, we’re still listening to those songs.’ I’ve gone from, ‘Thank you,’ to, ‘Sorry!'”
Now, if you don’t have children, you probably haven’t noticed this phenomenon. But for parents, the voice of Idina Menzel has been playing non-stop on repeat since last November. Not to mention the endless list of “Let it go” covers that poured in after Frozen‘s release. But to make matters even worse for these poor souls, a sequel has already been confirmed — guaranteeing a whole new soundtrack of catchy-yet-mind-numbing music.
That isn’t much of a surprise though. Frozen is the highest grossing animated film of all time, netting $1.27 billion worldwide. And since we won’t likely be letting go of “Let it go” anytime soon, why don’t you settle in for another listen?
You know you want to.
