Of course Oprah‘s BFF would have the best fashion tip.

Most women have a cami or two in their closet; not only are they great to wear when hanging around the house but they’re the perfect way to cover up the girls when your actual shirt is showing just a little bit too much cleavage. Obviously lace is a best seller too, since it’s a great way to add a pretty, feminine touch to any outfit.

But if the price of camis is getting you down, Gayle King has your back. That’s right, she totally has a camisole fashion hack and we’re 100% on board; it’s that brilliant.

The personality took to her Instagram account this past weekend to show us all that in order to get a cute, lacy cover-up, you don’t actually need a cami at all. All you need is a lacy thong.

As it turns out, King cuts out the bottom of lacy panties (thongs mostly, since she professes to hate wearing thongs for their intended use), and then uses the fabric as a tube top. It’s perfect if you think about it: it automatically eliminates the extra bulky layer under a tighter top and there are way more pretty panties to pick from in the stores than there are camis. It’s also a no-brainer way to recycle older pairs of underwear.

And underwear is always going on sale, too. How often have you picked up a five for $25 or three for $18 deal in your panty-purchasing history? We can’t say that we’ve seen pretty, lacy camis go on sale for that kind of price. Plus they rarely seem to have our size when they do.

We can’t believe we’ve never heard of doing this earlier. According to King the hack is approved by O Magazine‘s creative director, Adam Glassman. Which means at the end of the day, Oprah may be sporting thongs as shirts too.

You’d better believe we’re going to be wondering exactly that the next time we see Oprah on stage or on a TV show.

So there you have it. Underwear as undershirts. Now you know. Now excuse us while we go hit up the local lingerie shop. We’ve got some spring outfits to style.
