With Pippa Middleton‘s wedding to James Matthews just over a month away, more details are being released. We already knew the ceremony would happen sometime in May, but it’s been confirmed that May 20 will be the big day. Best news, though? Prince George and Princess Charlotte will be joining the wedding party. Kensington Palace announced that George will take on the role of page boy while Charlotte will toddle her way down the aisle as a bridesmaid.
Having a large number of children in a wedding party is very much an English tradition, but their roles are typically of the flower girl/ringbearer/train-bearer variety. A two-year-old bridesmaid seems a little young but, hey, it’s Pippa’s wedding and she’s the party planner so she’ll do what works best for her. Whatever the case, we can’t wait.
And while it makes sense for sister Kate to be maid of honour, or even be part of the bridal party or recite a reading, it’s been widely reported that there’s no way any of that’s happening. There’s been no official word on their roles, but she and Prince William will be in attendance — and that’s it. They’ll leave it to their kids to take the attention away from their aunt and future uncle.
The palace did announce that aside from Kate and Will, Prince Harry will also be attending — though it’s still unknown whether Meghan Markle will be his plus-one. If she is, we wonder if anyone will even notice Pippa and James.
It’s also been reported that British reality star Spencer Matthews will likely serve as his brother’s best man (talk about thunder-stealing), but no one’s said anything about Pippa and Kate’s little brother, James. He and Pips are super-close so it would be a sweet gesture if young Middleton got called up to stand by his future brother-in-law’s side while the Made in Chelsea star is relegated to groomsman. He’s no stranger to drama, right?
