While Gwyneth Paltrow will forever be criticized for leading a life that’s seemingly all too perfect (heck, even Martha Stewart’s feathers have been ruffled), there’s one thing everyone can agree on: she’s got style for miles. This quadruple threat (acting, singing, dancing, lifestyle maven) looks as enviably chic walking through airports as she does on red carpets. Her look is minimal, elegant and perfectly pulled together. So how does she do it? Despite being tall and slender, Gwyneth never hides the fact that she works out constantly (4:30am yoga routines are not uncommon for the star) and sticks to a crazy strict diet (no wheat, no dairy, no sugar), but there’s no question she’s a natural clothes horse.

On casual days she starts with basics like skinny jeans, white tank tops, anoraks, then adds a bit of oomph like white sunglasses, chunky-heeled boots and long layered necklaces. For nights on the town she’ll trade the boots for sky-high heels and an anorak or a cool crisp blazer. As for the red carpet, Gwyneth is a notorious trailblazer. In 2012 she showed up at the Oscars in a stunning white Tom Ford gown with matching cape. She’s even been known to sport a Stand Up To Cancer charity T-shirt with a peplum skirt. She also loves showing off those toned gams in thigh-high slits, micro mini dresses, classic shorts and the occasional crop top. Perfect Paltrow is a minimalist. She’s rarely seen in ruffles, big prints or over-the-top baubles. She favours straight hair over waves and classic palettes over frou frou: think black jumpsuits with deep V-necks, long fitted dresses with cutouts that emphasize her enviable abdominal muscles and shimmery gold gowns worn over strappy stilettos.

Replicating Gwyneth’s casual and elegant look requires an attitude similar to yoga at dawn and cutting out sugar: it’s called single-minded discipline. Think head-to-toe palettes, classic lines and the simplest of accessories when hitting the shops.

Here are a few things that will help you emulate Gwyneth’s style to perfection:

Gwyneth Paltrow Get the Look

What to Buy

A Structured Blazer: From boyfriend to tuxedo, our Gwyneth is most definitely a blazer girl. Paired with skinny pants or boyfriend jeans, it adds a ton of class to any occasion. Our Goop girl likes to wear hers with power shoulders, crisp shorts and high heels. Wear a looser blazer to brunch with a T-shirt or a more fitted satin number for cocktails with your Beyoncé-type gal pals. Collection Ludlow Houndstooth Wool Blazer, $425 (USD), available at The J.Crew Outlet at the Fashion Outlets of Niagara

A Quality Button-Up Shirt: From tailored shirts to tuxedo-style jump suits, Gwynnie often borrows from the boys and when she does, it’s sexy and oh-so-feminine. There’s something effortlessly chic about a slightly crumpled button-up shirt, it’s like you’re saying, “This old thing? I just threw it on.” Keep your look girlie by wearing it with a pretty pendant and an extra coat of lipstick. Fitted Boyfriend Oxford Shirt, $54.95, Gap

A Sleek Pair of Skinny Jeans: Gwyneth practically lives in skinny jeans. They’re her day and night staple and they should be yours too. Slim jeans look great dressed down with sneakers or ballet flats and  dressed up with high boots and stilettos. Our favourite A-lister may have celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson on speed dial, but when you’ve just eaten a bagel (gasp!) and don’t have time for extra crunches, a high-waisted stretch jean will be your new best friend. Ultra Slim Waxed Jean, $44.25, Joe Fresh

A Chic Pair of Strappy Heels: Considering how tall she is, you’ll rarely see the fabulous Goop founder in a pair of flats. Gwyneth loves her high heels, the pointier the better, and toe cleavage is a must. Just like a blazer can add some sophistication to jeans, a pair of strappy sandals can take a simple pair of jeans from a day in Montauk to a cocktail party in Cannes. LADLE High Heels, $80, Aldo

A Tinted Moisturizer: Gwynnie always has that just-in-from-my-private-beach-in-the-Hamptons glow about her. Or maybe it’s the reflection from her Academy Award? Either way, you can have it too with the right face product. CCs are like Hollywood agents for the face. Apply evenly to your skin, blend outward using your fingertips and voila! The illumination of an A-lister at your fingertips. Dr. Brandt Skincare CC Glow Broad Spectrum SPF 30, $49, Sephora

A Simple Bangle Bracelet: Jewelry designers are lined up to give our girl expensive baubles, but she rarely goes all-out (maybe she’s afraid to share the spotlight?). This is an actress who prefers a simple cuff or long layered necklace but rarely both at once. There’s something to be said for less is more, and who wants to be outshined by their bling, anyway? A simple bangle is elegant and pretty, just like Gwyneth herself. Marble Bangle, $55 Banana Republic
