We’ve wanted our own movie projector ever since that one summer at Uncle Bob’s place in the burbs, where we huddled in the basement watching Ghostbusters with all the cousins. A movie screen! On the wall! Magic.
We’ve come a long way since then, and personal projectors aren’t as out of reach—read: freaking expensive—as they once were. In fact, they’re positively affordable. And in some cases, pocket sized. And convenient as the phone in your pocket.
We’re kind of in love with the new Moto Insta-Share Projector. It’s just slightly bigger than one of those ‘rugged’ phone cases, and snaps right on to the back of your Moto phone with a satisfying magnetic click. And that’s pretty well it. No settings to figure out, no weird pairings. There are a few minutes of set-up the first time, and from then on it’s snap and go.
And we mean go. Go to the bedroom, the bathroom, the kitchen. Even camping. Tent as movie screen? Why not? Nothing’s stopping you from watching your favourite streaming apps, YouTube videos, even looking at pictures you just took, on any flat surface you want.
At 480p and 50 lumens (brightness, for newbs like us who have to look this stuff up), you get a pretty good picture at the recommended 70 inch screen size. That’s not to say you can’t make it much bigger, but resolution will decrease inversely.
Sure, you’ll find stand-alone projectors with higher resolution (we love those too), but for ease of use and full seamless integration with your phone, we haven’t seen anything as convenient as this little modular projector.
WHO IT’S FOR:
For anyone who’s tired of watching Carpool Karaoke on the small screen.
