It’s an exciting time as this country’s finest content creators are honoured for their contributions to Canada’s media industry.

Canadian Screen Week kicked off Tuesday with the CTV gala honouring non-fiction programming. Bell Media garnered a total of 183 nominations- 111 for television and digital and 72 for Bell Media supported films. CTV is a Platinum partner of the event.

This is all leading up to the seventh annual Canadian Screen Awards Sunday night, at the Sony Centre in Toronto.

Ahead of the big show, the CEO of the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television, Beth Janson, stopped by Your Morning to preview the big night and talk about the importance of gender equality in film and television. Watch the full interview above.

Best of luck to all the nominees!
