If you happen to be in London, you might want to pack some bear spray.

A giant, 8 ft. polar bear has been spotted wandering the city’s streets. Residents have reported seeing it on the subway, in parks and on the Millennium Bridge. Heck, we even have the photos to prove it. Here it is crossing the bridge:

Bear in London

Now here it is about to snack on a delicious human:

Bear in London

OK, – we’re pulling your leg a little. The bear isn’t actually real, it’s an animatronic animal that was created to promote a new British television series called Fortitude, which is set in the Arctic Circle.

Prop specialists worked on the glorified puppet over the course of 8 weeks, using more than 60 different types of materials to complete the look. It’s operated by two puppeteers who first had to study the movements of real polar bears before getting inside. But as you can imagine, the bear prop really had some Londoners freaked out.

“It looks very realistic to me,” one man says in the video above. “I have to say I feel a little nervous standing here with my back to it.”

“I still can’t figure out how it looks so real. Is it real?” Another bewildered woman asked.

We’re honestly half-surprised a lawsuit isn’t already in the making. Check out the video above.
