At the end of 2019, there were
rumours that Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik were back in the on-again phase of their roller-coaster of a relationship. It had been months since we heard anything about the two being linked, so we grabbed hold of any semblance of coupleness and held on tight. Turns out, we were right to keep the dream alive.The couple confirmed their reunion while out and about in New York City over the weekend. They had lots to celebrate, including Zayn's birthday (which was on January 12), and Gigi's mom's the day before. In fact, the on-again-couple reportedly went out on Saturday night for Yolanda Hadid's 56th, along with Gigi's sister Bella Hadid, and Dua Lipa, who is dating Gigi and Bella's brother, Anwar. Gigi and Zayn were seen walking arm in arm behind Bella and Dua, so we'd say that totally means they've reunited.Gigi and Zayn first started dating in November 2015, shortly after she reportedly split from Joe Jonas and the former One Direction member ended things with Perrie Edwards. It wasn't exactly smooth sailing throughout, but their relationship lasted until March 2018 — but they realized they couldn't live without each other, and reconciled weeks later. By November, however, they were done.
Done done. Or so we thought. They remained friends throughout all of last year and stayed fairly close, so perhaps it was always meant to be that they find their way back to one another, romantically speaking. In December, reunion rumours began swirling once again after Gigi shared a photo of a meal she was cooking based on a recipe from Zayn's mother, whom she tagged in the post.
In 2019, while there were no reports of a new love interest in Malik's life, Hadid engaged in a brief fling with
The Bachelorette runner-up Tyler Cameron. The supermodel was often photographed leaving the reality star's home, and he reportedly attended Gigi's grandmother's funeral in September. But
People reported that was also the last time the models were seen in public together, and by fall, they were done. (Re-)enter Zayn — just like we dreamed it. Now we can all breathe a little easier because things are exactly how they should be. Old love, new decade. 2020 is looking promising for these two.
