Canadian YouTube sensation and LGBTQ+ icon Gigi Gorgeous is getting hitched this year and she shared some exclusive deets with etalk‘s Traci Melchor — like the fact she and fiancée Nats Getty will be tying the knot this summer.

“It’s happening in July,” Gigi told Traci. “You know I love you, it’s like we’re girlfriends talking on the couch.”

She also talked about her “fairy tale” surprise proposal, which Getty organized last year on the couple’s trip to Paris.

“The engagement was a fairy tale, it was amazing. I wish I could relive it every single day,” she said. “Paris is where we met, where we fell in love and connected and it was really just a random act. I feel like you really do find love when you aren’t looking for it.”

1 year engaged to the love of my life❣️

Gorgeous and Getty met in 2016 when they were both in France modeling for Paris Fashion Week. The proposal last March really was out of a fairy tale and involved a helicopter ride, a French castle, a “will you marry me?” projection, a fireworks display, a party and a giant diamond.

Shortly after the proposal, Gigi uploaded the whole thing to YouTube as an announcement to her followers.

A wedding isn’t the only big thing happening in Gigi’s life this year; she’s also just published a book where she writes all about the experiences that have made her the woman she is today. He Said, She Said: Lessons, Stories, and Mistakes from My Transgender Journey includes anecdotes from her early childhood, when she lost her mother, her journey of transformation from Gregory to Gigi and then learning to talk openly about her sexuality and gender identity. Gigi told etalk why she felt now was the right time to write her autobiography.

“The time is now and I know 26 is a short time to write a memoir but I really feel like I’ve lived enough and I feel super at peace about where I am in my transition,” she said.

Gigi added that one of the most important forces in her life was her late mother — who she lost 2012 to leukemia — and Gigi hopes to have honoured her in the memoir. The YouTuber credits her mother with giving her the courage to transition.

“I want people to know her how she should be remembered and also how we lost her,” she said, “I just want to put her legacy down in a book that will live forever.”
