Don’t mess with Gigi Hadid’s runway. The supermodel went above and beyond her job requirements on Tuesday when she walked in the Chanel fashion show during Paris Fashion Week. During the finale of the show, a prankster decided to crash the runway, but was unable to make her escape thanks to Hadid’s quick moves, with the statuesque model blocking her way. So that’s why models have to be so tall!

The final moments of the Chanel show at the Grand Palais erupted when comedian and YouTuber Marie Benoliel, who goes by Marie S’Infiltre, jumped on the runway and began walking with the models. Wearing a black and white tweed suit and hat, Benoliel attempted to blend in, but she was no match for Hadid’s keen eye and mental roster of every model currently working in fashion. The 24-year-old model physically blocked Benoliel from leaving when security were unable to reach her in time. Video from the event shows Hadid escorting Benoliel off the runway, a move that has likely earned Hadid free Chanel bags for life and probably a starring role in their next campaign.

Tuesday’s show featured the spring/summer 2020 collection for Chanel and marked the first Paris Fashion Week for Virginie Viard as Chanel’s creative director following the death of beloved designer Karl Lagerfield earlier this year. The Chanel show featured many famous guests who were actually invited, including Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and Cardi B, the latter slaying haters across the pond with her fashion choices. We have a feeling Cardi is already figuring out how to rhyme ‘Gigi’ with ‘badass’ for her next rap. Speaking to Women’s Wear Daily after the show, Cardi said “I loved the show. I got a little scared when homegirl flew out there.” Same, Cardi. Benoliel has commented on WWD’s video of Cardi, writing “That’s me” and including a heart and raised finger emoji. Those are very conflicting messages.

According to WWD, Benoliel has been busy during Paris Fashion Week, already crashing the Etam show while wearing a silver nightgown and a sleep mask. Unfortunately, Hadid wasn’t there that time to save the day. Chanel has now released a statement regarding Tuesday’s prank, writing “This person is a comedian known for this type of prank. She had crashed another runway recently. Her presence on the catwalk was not planned. Security guards simply led her to the exit at the end of the show.”

If there’s one thing we’ve learned from Tuesday’s incident, it’s that Gigi Hadid took her training from the “Bad Blood” music video very seriously.
