Whether math is your favourite or most hated subject, this girl just found a way to make it fun. Because not only is nine-year-old Maddy Douglas good with numbers, she’s even better with matters of the heart — thanks to her mom’s wise words.

According to the Independent, Douglas, from Iowa, was given a homework problem in her Common Core math book about a group of high school students who were out to date one another. The question read:

In high school, Frank, Mike, George, and Ron each went out on a total of 4 dates with 4 different girls. The second time Frank dated Rose and George dated Kay. The third time Mike dated Mary and Ron dated Louise. The fourth time, George dated Louise and Ron dated Kay. For each of the 4 times, tell which girl dated which boy.

Hint: For the fourth date, Louise dated George and and Kay dated Ron. You know Frank dated Rose on the second date. Who had to be Frank’s fourth date?

Uh, anyone else think Mary, Louise, Rose, Kay, Frank, Mike, George and Ron are a little too close to each other? Anyway, young Maddy hit us up with some knowledge and basically killed it with her answer.

“I cant aswer this problem because my mom says acoording to girl code you shoudent date a friends x boyfriend.”

Naturally, Maddy’s mom, Jenn Morrison Douglas, posted an image of her daughter’s homework onto Facebook with the hashtag #girlcodetrumpscommoncore but did comment that she wasn’t happy with the question.

“I was NOT happy about this at ALL. I don’t care if they prefaced it with ‘In High School.’ Still not appropriate.” Maddy’s teacher, however, was a great sport and found the girl’s answer pretty funny, reportedly telling her student, “Good point.”

There are some adults who aren’t yet aware of the fundamentals of dating so perhaps the fourth-grader can teach them a thing or two, thanks to some awesome parenting. Because she’s ahead of the game and anyone in the future who is going to enter into a relationship with her better know it. May all our daughters be as sassy.
