Actor Andy Serkis helped make the Lord of the Rings films into one of the biggest franchises of all time thanks to his incredible portrayal of Gollum. This week, the British actor appeared on the Late Late Show With Stephen Colbert in what we assume will be one of his last American TV appearances, at least for the next four years.

A self-professed LOTR fan, Colbert asked Serkis to transform into his famous role as Gollum to do a little light reading, which included reciting some of Donald Trump‘s tweets. Like we said, Serkis should probably enjoy the US while he can. The POTUS doesn’t have the best sense of humour. Or any at all, from what we can tell.

A method actor at heart, Serkis commits to the reading by jumping on his chair and crouching down to give the full effect of Gollum. He’s good.

The British actor read two of Trump’s most famous tweets, including of course the post that began the ‘covfefe’ debacle. “I gotta say,” said Colbert, “they sound better that way.” We would have to agree.

While the short interview segment only had time for two tweets, there are so many more insane 140 character statements made by the POTUS that we would have loved to hear Gollum read. Such as, this one.

Also, this.

We can’t believe he said it, but this too.

Roh row for us.

Well, he’s right about the first part, my precious.

It’s a weird time to be alive.
