Sharks are pretty fearsome predators, but rarely do humans get a chance to see their top-notch hunting skills in action.

Thanks to a video shot off the coast of Massachusetts though, you’ll get to today. Released by the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy this week, a seal is seen desperately jumping out of the water before a massive shark comes flying out behind it (you can see it in the video, above).

In the end, the shark’s clever prey somehow made its way to the beach and escaped, but the footage still demonstrates just how savage and powerful a great white can be. The conservancy group even managed to snap this awesome birds-eye view:

Spotter pilot Wayne Davis captured this incredible aerial image of the research team watching a mid air collision of white shark and seal in a failed predation attempt off Monomoy yesterday (8/17/15).

The shark did eventually get its lunch though. Another seal came by only minutes later, but wasn’t as lucky as the first.
