The holidays may be over, but Grey’s Anatomy (returning Wednesday, January 16 at 9 p.m. ET) just gave us a huge gift. ABC has announced that three additional episodes have now been added to the current season of the hit medical drama, bringing the total number of episodes for Season 15 up to 25. Plus, actor Jennifer Grey is set to guest star. More Grey’s Anatomy and Frances ‘Baby’ Houseman? We’re going to have to happy-dance this out.

CTV

The new episode order means Grey’s Anatomy is making history as the longest-running medical drama ever on TV. The Shonda Rhimes series was previously tied with ER, which ran for 15 seasons, but with ER producing 22 episodes or less per season, Grey’s has now officially taken the crown. Or in this case, the surgical cap.

Grey’s Anatomy has somehow managed to continue feeling fresh and new this year, an incredible feat for any show that has passed into double-digit seasons. Plus, we really want to see how this works out. Yeah, we’re gonna need three more episodes for the Meredith/DeLuca romance.

When Grey’s Anatomy returns from its fall break, there will also be a new character introduced. Jennifer Grey is set to make her debut on the medical drama in a Grey/Grey mashup that we we can’t help but be super excited about. Grey’s (as in Jennifer) character has yet to be revealed, but as TVLine reported, actor Camilla Luddington has confirmed we will meet her character Jo’s absentee parents this season.

Grey as Luddington’s mother would make a great storyline. Also a great storyline? Figuring out a way to have Jennifer Grey and Debbie Allen engage in a dance-off. Time for another musical episode on Grey’s Anatomy!

Grey’s Anatomy returns with new episodes on Wednesday, January 16 at 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. MT on CTV.
