Girl power just got even stronger in the movie world. Earlier in the year we told you about how Sony Pictures is planning to release a Ghostbusters reboot with a full-female cast that includes Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig and Kate McKinnon. Now it’s been revealed that Sony is also planning a spin-off of 21 Jump Street, but this time with a pair of female leads. How cool is that?
So the question remains, which hilariously awesome leading ladies should team up for the goofy cop franchise? Sure it would be easy to go with the pair of Dakota Johnson and Rye Rye who already appeared as a rival cops to Jonah and Channing in the 2012 film. But let’s think outside the box.
We know who we want. Here are four pairs of cool chicks that we think would be perfect for the new female-driven 21 Jump Street.
Guess which movie franchise is getting an all-female reboot
Maya Rudolph and Kristen WiigPairing Maya Rudolph and Kristen Wiig together never seems to fail on the big screen. Their comedic chemistry is insatiable and adorable. They were perfect together in Bridesmaids. Imagine the hijinx they could get into while trying to battle crime together? We'd watch that.Columbia Pictures/Getty Images
Kat Dennings and Beth BehrsOn Two Broke Girls, Kat and Beth have great chemistry as two completely opposites attracting in the name of humour. Why not transfer that to the big screen? Kat could be the pushy, sarcastic, loud-mouthed cop. Beth could be the self-obsessed, ditsy one. It's perfect. Just switch uniforms.Columbia Pictures/Getty Images
Jennifer Lawrence and Mindy KalingHow cool would the pairing of J-Law and Mindy Kaling as bumbling cops be? J-Law could cover the cocky, strong, cool girl while Mindy would nail the nerdy awkwardness and quick wit. Their mismatched on-screen banter would be pretty great and they're both hilarious.Columbia Pictures/Getty Images
Emma Stone and Rebel WilsonEmma Stone does so well as a sarcastic, potty-mouthed, hard-ass chick in comedies. Rebel Wilson is a total slapstick goof. These two would get along great as mismatched cops on the big screen and their misadventures would be both hilarious ridiculous.Columbia Pictures/Getty Images
