For the past two years, Irishman Owen McCavana has been pranking terrorizing his girlfriend, Nicola Daniels, in an ingenious way.  Daniels has been living in constant fear of hearing McCavana, 28, yell out Lord of the Rings (LOTR) quotes at any given time. It’s simple. It’s brilliant. And we wish we had thought of it first.

How exactly does this trickster pull all of this off? For one, he’s been acting his whole life — he currently resides in London, practising his trade — so memorizing lines is a piece of cake for him. And, two, he’s obviously a huge LOTR fan.

“I read all the books even before the movies were made and the movies did the books so much justice,” McCavana said, speaking to The Loop. “Peter Jackson does stick quite closely to the books for his script so it was easy to remember.”

Either way, that takes a lot of commitment. But, not surprisingly, this isn’t the first time he’s pulled a prank on his girlfriend of six years. He started with hiding in cupboards and scaring her. Then one day he just talked to Daniels in the voice of a LOTR character and it grew from there.

“I had a brainwave. Her reaction was so priceless, I did more. That, coupled with the massive demand from my friends on Snapchat, is what made it kind of snowball.” he said.

Yes, you read right. McCavana was recording these short, hilarious clips and sending them to his friends one at a time. Finally, his old schoolmate Joe Azzopardi combined each of them to make one big video and uploaded it to the Internet. No one was prepared for what happened next. McCavana says over 4 million people have viewed the video on various platforms and he’s quite overwhelmed by it all.

“It’s incredible. We’ve also enjoyed reading people’s comments (good and bad) from people around the world giving us relationship advice,” McCavana said.

So, people clearly think their relationship is on the rocks, but he says not to worry, everything is just fine. Last night. the couple had a good giggle at the relationship advice they’ve received.

“We find the whole thing hilarious. I sound like quite the catch, I know, but I can assure you we are very much in love.”

We’re glad the funny twosome are going to live happily ever after, but the constant pranking must get on Daniels nerves, right? McCavana says she scares easily so she gets mildly irritated. She’s even tried to get him back a few times.

“On more that one occasion she has tried hitting me with objects closest to her, but I think her fear of more retribution hold her at bay to do a video retaliation,” he said. “[Plus], I’m sure six years with an Irish joker gets you used to it!
