If there’s one celeb whose cosmetics drawer we’d love to quietly creep through, it’s Gwen Stefani‘s. The singer is synonymous with perfect platinum locks (how has her hair not broken apart after decades of dye!?), bold red lipstick and expertly winged black eyeliner. Her beauty look is calculated and perfectly applied always, leaving us to wonder how and what products she uses to get such an angelic-meets-edgy look.
But this year, Gwen is joining the Revlon team as a global ambassador, which means maybe, just maybe, we’ll finally get some insight into which lip colour she wears. And what products she applies to make her skin look like a porcelain doll’s. And what mascara she swipes on her always-thick lashes. Okay, so there’s a lot of makeup insight we’re hoping to gain from this partnership.
The collaboration is a fit in so many ways. Not only because of Stefani’s on-point looks nowadays, but because she used to sell cosmetics at the mall before this whole music career thing kicked off. This is life coming full circle, people.
“I was a makeup artist when I was in my early twenties at the mall, they never trained me,” she said in an interview with WWD.
So her ultra cool makeup from the past makes even more sense to us now. Like, remember this iconic Marilyn Monroe-esque look from the 2003 Grammys:
Or the crystals and blue hair look at the 1998 MTV Video Awards. (Sure, the bindi might be bordering on cultural appropriation, but that hair would be a Tumblr and Pinterest staple for years to come.)
Revlon is clearly excited to have Stefani on-board, announcing it on their Instagram page with a fun video:
“Partnering with an iconic beauty brand such as Revlon felt like a natural fit. I am so excited to continue sharing my love of makeup as a Revlon Global Brand Ambassador,” Stefani said in a press release.
The other thing we love about this partnership is that we might be able to get the singer’s look straight from the drugstore. There hasn’t been an official announcement on Stefani-approved products, but we’re crossing our fingers and toes. And who knows? Gwen’s signature lip might just become your signature lip too.
