It’s been nearly nine months since Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Falchuk were married in front of their family and friends at her Hamptons home, after a nearly year-long engagement and three-plus years of dating. Sounds pretty standard, but their marriage is anything but traditional. Just because they said “I dos” doesn’t mean they have to live under the same roof.

“Oh, all my married friends say that the way we live sounds ideal and we shouldn’t change a thing,” Paltrow told the Sunday Times, revealing that her producer husband actually lives nearby in his own home when he’s got his kids with him. They obviously have the financial means to maintain two homes, something couples who fantasize about these living arrangements can’t do, and though this is definitely a Goopy way to embark on a marriage she may be onto something.

Paltrow’s wedding to Falchuk was a lot different from how she and ex-husband Chris Martin made it official—eloping under the radar and pretty much living their life that way as well. Paltrow and Martin’s relationship has always been unlike most (see: “consciously uncoupled”) and they have remained more than friendly in spite of their split, with Chris even attending Gwyneth and Brad’s wedding. The Coldplay frontman sat almost in the front row, which made sense since his and Gwyn’s children, Apple and Moses, served as bridesmaids and groomsmen along with Brad’s daughter, Isabella, and son Brody. GP always does things the Goop way.

Paltrow previously spoke about her and Falchuk’s separate houses before getting married, telling WSJ Magazine, “We are still doing it in our own way. With teenage kids, you’ve got to tread lightly. It’s pretty intense, the teenage thing.” It certainly helps that Martin is on-board with Gwyneth and Brad’s relationship and that they all genuinely like one another. They could easily be merely civil to one another, or much worse, but it’s pretty obvious Chris and Gwyneth and Brad have a good thing going and they know it.

“Chris is family and Brad and he, they’re like, totally friends,” Paltrow added to the Sunday Times. And it’s one big, modern, awesome family, with Gwyneth noting that she’s as fond of her ex’s girlfriend, Dakota Johnson, as Chris is of Brad. “I adore her,” said Gwyneth. “She’s a fantastic woman.”

Relationship and conscious uncoupling goals—not too shabby.
