In news that is making us feel old, Gwyneth Paltrow just shared a picture of her daughter Apple Martin for the teen’s 15th birthday. Not fifth birthday? That seems strange, since we haven’t aged at all. What isn’t strange is that the teen is growing up into a beautiful young woman, no surprise considering her genetically blessed lineage.
On Tuesday, Gwyneth posted a pic of Apple playfully posing with a rose in her mouth, writing “Happy 15th birthday my angel @applemartin I will never be able to put into words how much I love you. You are so strong and so good and so damn funny and sooooo gorgeous inside and out. I am the proudest mama ever. Feliz quinceañera mi vida!”
Paltrow’s husband Brad Falchuck jumped in on the celebration, writing “Happy, happy birthday. World’s best bonus daughter.” A handful of celebs also sent the teen well-wishes, including Courtney Love, Paris Hilton, designer Monique Lhuillier, Naomi Campbell and Selma Blair.
So yeah, life must be weird when your mom is Gwyneth Paltrow and your dad is Chris Martin.
Apple was thankfully happy with her mom’s b-day shout-out, commenting “I love u so much” on the post, which included a second image of a screenshot showing a text exchange between Gwyneth and Apple. The texts included Apple giving her mother permission to post the birthday tribute, a much-needed sign-off following Paltrow’s last mother-daughter selfie.
After Gwyneth posted a picture with Apple in March of the pair on a ski lift, Apple commented “Mom we have discussed this. You may not post anything without my consent.” We’re not sure whether the comment was meant as a joke, but it did spark a debate, with the pair poking fun at the media attention in Paltrow’s latest post.

Tuesday’s birthday picture is the second image of Apple shared by her mom this week. Paltrow, who typically doesn’t post many images of her children, shared a beautiful picture on Sunday to thank Apple and her 13-year-old brother Moses for making her a mom. Wait, Moses is a teenager too?
Honestly, we’re still trying to figure out how this is no longer an up-to-date picture of Apple Martin.
So…have we gotten older as well? That can’t be right.
