Covering Vogue magazine is a big deal for anyone. It’s a sign you’ve ‘made it’ and a massive compliment to your career. Imagine, then, how great it would feel to share such an honour with your bestie who also happened to be your sister.

Gigi and Bella Hadid, the world’s favourite model sisters (sorry Kendall and Kylie), have graced the cover of the March issue of British Vogue, looking tan and powerful, each with their own separate cover, shot by famed photographer Steven Meisel.

It’s got to be a really cool feeling to get to do a photoshoot with your sis — the two NYC dwellers are constantly being snapped together on the streets in trendy neighbourhoods like Soho and Tribeca — some are finding Bella’s cover photo a bit too perfect and smooth, causing some to throw around the P word (Photoshop).

A Vogue cover first for 21-year-old Bella, but Gigi has been around the Vogue block a time or two before. Inside the March issue, Bella and Gigi dish the dirt (pretty clean dirt, tbh) on Gigi’s relationship with Zayn, Bella’s house hunt and more, but perhaps the biggest conversation starter found in the magazine is this image of the two sisters in a nude embrace, which has caused some to feel an itty bit uncomfortable.

A post shared by British Vogue (@britishvogue) on

“Sisters? I don’t care how beautiful we were, my sister and I would never do anything like this. Weird,” one user wrote in a comment on Instagram.

“Inappropriate and disturbing to say the least. Vogue is a FASHION magazine – we buy it to see clothes. I can’t imagine why anyone would think this was the kind of image the customer wanted. With all the scandals going on in the fashion industry, you then come up with this??” added another.

Gigi isn’t one to bite her tongue when she feels uncomfortable or has an opinion on a hot topic, and if this pose felt out of line, she probably would’ve spoke up on set. Not to mention, nudity doesn’t have to be sexual. If you look at this photo for what it is, you’ll see an artful image that celebrates two young and beautiful humans who clearly love and admire one another. That’s what we should be focusing on.
